Impulsive ADD Behavior

Since the dawn of time, parents have had to face the challenge of rearing responsible and respectful offspring.  In every culture, there has been a stigma attached to women who raise unruly children; in fact, there has even been a stigma attached to these children.  They are easily written off as being “bad seeds” or some other negative term.  More recently, physicians and scientists have come to the conclusion that a significant portion of those “bad seeds” might actually be sufferers of Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) behavior.

Impulsive ADD behavior can be displayed in a multitude of ways.  Most notably, there is a tendency to seek out those things which bring the sufferer instant gratification.  Often these will be activities which will quickly stimulate in a physical or emotional manner.  Common impulsive ADD behaviors include bungee jumping, drag racing, irresponsible sexual conduct, or violent video games.  Other, and slightly less dangerous, impulsive ADD behaviors are often seen in social interactions.  Sufferers tend to physically shift their bodies in a restless manner, blurt out responses to questions before the the question has been fully stated, or speak in an excessive manner without an apparent interest in the listener’s response.

Quite often this impulsive ADD behavior is misconstrued and the sufferer is thought to be inconsiderate, selfish, or irrational.  It is important to understand that most sufferers would like to be more in control of their actions, but due to a chemical imbalance in their neurology they are unable.  Years of research have proven that impulsive ADD behavior is due to a genetic inheritance.  Therefore, it doesn’t matter if loved ones admonish sufferers for their impulsive ADD behavior with labels like “bad seed”, there is no denying their biological makeup.
