Recent estimates have revealed that roughly 5% of the United State’s population has Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD).  This disability can adversely impact the day-to-day lives of those who suffer from it.  Often the ADHD behavior that sufferers display is misunderstood by their parents, teachers, and peers.  Unfortunately, these sufferers cannot control their behavior by sheer will power alone.  Also, there is no cure-all remedy for the disorder.  However, there is hope.  Those will ADHD behavior should be relieved to know that the more they come to understand their affliction and the ways to regulate it, the better their chances are to lead productive lives. 

There are four methods to normalize those who display ADHD behavior.  Many sufferers choose to attend therapy.  In therapy, sufferers can learn enlightening information about their particular symptoms.  Also while in therapy, patients will come to develop their coping skills.  Suggested skills to combat ADHD behavior include making lists to stay organized and working in short intervals as opposed to long segments. 

The two alternative methods of treatment for ADHD behavior are support groups and boarding schools.   In the support group, sufferers converse with peers who are facing similar challenges.   This can be an emotional outlet and could possibly help sufferers feel less alone.  The boarding school specializing in ADHD behavior can function in a similar way.  Students feel the support of their peers and an understanding staff while attending standard classes.

Although the support group and boarding school can be helpful, the most successful form of regulation is medication.  The areas of the sufferer’s brain which control impulse are less active than they should be.  Stimulant medications like Dexedrine and Ritalin can counteract this imbalance and lead to less severe ADHD behavior.
