ADD Resources

Currently, millions of Americans are diagnosed with having a psychiatric disorder; one of the more common disorders is Attention Deficit Disorder which effects nearly 5% of the population. Many of the people afflicted with this disability are not aware of a reliable ADD resource; they continue to struggle with the disability on their own.  The best way to try to normalize the behavior of someone with this disorder is to seek out a viable ADD resources to learn the about the facts, myths, and methods of treatment.

By researching ADD resources sufferers can learn the typical symptoms of the disorder.  For example, the symptoms of this disability will vary with each individual.  The most common symptoms include hyperactivity, impulse control problems, and an inability to focus. One of the first steps on the path to healing is to identify the combination of these features the sufferer has.  Another factor in planning a path to normalizing the sufferer’s behavior is the consideration of the severity of their individual symptoms.

An ADD resources will also reveal misunderstandings about the disorder.  The oldest misconception is that the disorder is caused by minor brain damage.  Initially, researchers believed that the hyperactivity and impulsive behavior was due to trauma to the brain; over fifty years of research on the subject has shed light on the genetic aspects of the disorder.  Current ADD resources show that the disability is actually caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain.

By far, the best ADD resource available is your physician.  A licensed physician can assess and diagnose the patient with the disorder as well has begin a course of treatment.  The commonest form of treatment is stimulant medication.  In addition to pills, the patient might also undergo behavioral or cognitive therapy.
