How do I know for sure              Reply to this Comment

Our son is 15 and had been caught drinking, smoking cigarettes and pot, and most recently, I discovered some old pain pills in his room left over from an appendectomy that I had last Fall. He currently takes an antidepressant, so my question is, how do I know for sure that he is addicted? Won't the antidepressant mess w/ the drug test resulsts? I have done much research on the interenet and according to all that I have read, he is showing every sign of abusing. He was almost asked to leave his school so we withdrew him for fear of an expulsion. He does have a long history of depression and anxiety and I am a recovering alcoholic. My husband is also a recovering addict. We have the resources to send him to a top notch facility for treatment. Do I wait until I REALLY have hard proof, or do I go with my gut feeling and send him now. I am afraid that he will end up in some real trouble or worst. His behavior has been extremely volitile and at times abusive towards us, but I should add that at times, my husband can be abusive as well..He continues to get treatment for this. Does anyone out there have ANY advise? My head is spinning.
